The Department comprises at present over 140 full-time faculty members, 8 fixed-term research assistants, 41 temporary research fellows and 100 Ph.D. students. Our Department offers a Ph.D. Program in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering and a new PhD Program in ICT for Health. The research areas covered by DIETI members, through both interdisciplinary collaborations among the department groups and a number of international collaborations, relate to the following horizontal themes:
- industrial applications of Electrical Engineering and ICT technologies
- environment and critical infrastructures
- energy, telecommunications and computing infrastructures
- design and management of services for the Society, Public Administration and private firms
- applications of ICT to healthcare services and in the field of medicine and biology.
The Department is also leading the Apple Developer's Academy, the Deloitte Digital Transformation and Industry Innovation Academy and CISCO DTLab. All located in a brand new campus at San Giovanni in the Eastern part of Naples. In 2017 the Department was recognized as a Department of Excellence (Dipartimento di Eccellenza) by the Italian Ministry for University and Research.
