The DIETI Department comprises at present over 140 full-time faculty members, 8 fixed-term research assistants, 41 temporary research fellows and 100 Ph.D. students. The research areas covered by DIETI members, through both interdisciplinary collaborations among the department groups and a number of international collaborations, relate to the following horizontal themes:
- industrial applications of Electrical Engineering and ICT technologies
- environment and critical infrastructures
- energy, telecommunications and computing infrastructures
- design and management of services for the Society, Public Administration and private firms
- applications of ICT to healthcare services and in the field of medicine and biology.
In 2017 the Department was recognized as a Department of Excellence (Dipartimento di Eccellenza) by the Italian Ministry for University and Research.
The Department offers many international programs and opportunities:
- Ph.D Program in Computational and Quantitative Biology
- PhD Program in ICT for Health
- Ph.D. Program in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering.
The Department is also leading the Apple Developer's Academy, the Deloitte Digital Transformation and Industry Innovation Academy and CISCO DTLab. All located in a brand new campus at San Giovanni in the Eastern part of Naples.
